Beyond the Exam: Oral Cancer Awareness, Screening and Protocols – 11/6/26
This course highlights the importance of incorporating comprehensive evaluations, performing timely follow-up and establishing effective communication between dentists and their teams. Through analysis of TDIC cases, this course shares how to establish consistent protocols for screenings and integrate patient education into daily practice. The course also explores strategies to address screening misconceptions, biases or gaps in awareness, as well as how to communicate evidence supporting screening necessity.
Upon completion, attendees will earn 2 CE units and a 5% professional liability premium discount for two years. This continuing education activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the standards of the ADA Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP) through joint efforts between CDA and TDIC.
Ruchi Sahota, DDS
Dr. Ruchi Sahota is a Fremont-based general dentist, educator, and dental advocate who has provided comprehensive
family care alongside her mother since 2005. A graduate of the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, she completed her
residency at the Palo Alto VA Hospital and subsequently taught at her alma mater for over a decade. Dr. Sahota balances
her private practice and Washington Hospital staff role with prominent leadership positions, including serving as a
spokesperson for the American Dental Association and an Associate Editor for the California Dental Association. Dr. Sahota
is also a board member for The Dentists Insurance Company.
Jefferson Hayden, Esq.
Mr. Hayden is a partner at Gammage & Burnham law firm based in Phoenix, Arizona and is current chair of the commercial
litigation practice group. His practice is concentrated in the areas of healthcare, real estate and complex commercial
litigation. He has handled a wide range of matters in state and federal courts as well as through alternative dispute forums
including arbitration, mediation and settlement conferences. Jefferson’s practice primarily focuses on medical negligence,
defense of physicians, dentists, nurses, hospitals, laboratories and other professionals in malpractice cases and board
disciplinary proceedings.
