Community Services Committee Provides Screenings, Education, and Fluoride at the SCFHP Spring Health Fair

On May 30, the SCCDS Community Services Committee proudly participated in the Spring Health Fair hosted by the Santa Clara Family Health Plan, providing valuable oral health services and education to local residents in Gilroy.

Volunteer dentists Drs. Naveeta Choudhary, Victoria Furman, Amir Chalak, Navita Kalair, and Navyata Kumar generously donated their time to provide oral health screenings, fluoride treatments, and personalized education to community members. They were assisted by volunteer assistants Catalina Calderon Diaz, Ari Dent, and Sweni Patel, whose support helped ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for attendees.

Using a compact intraoral camera, volunteer dentists were able to show patients real-time images of their oral health conditions and better explain their findings. This technology helped create meaningful educational opportunities and empowered patients to better understand their oral health needs.

In addition to screenings and preventive services, volunteers provided attendees with information about local clinics and community resources, helping connect individuals and families with ongoing dental care and support beyond the event.

The SCCDS Community Services Committee is grateful to all of the volunteers who made this outreach effort possible.
