SCCDS Study Club: Minimally Invasive Implantology: Evaluation of the Flapless Surgical Technique and Case Study

Expired

Since the 1970s, modern Implantology is based on the concept of surgery with flap elevation. The implant dentist would produce a full-thickness gingival flap to expose the bone-implant site. However, over the past decade in dentistry, it has been established the concept of minimally invasive surgery, consisting in taking advantage of advancements experienced in diagnostic techniques and specific surgical instruments, to perform surgical procedures causing as little damage as possible to the patient. Dr. Wang will discuss this technique as a newly developed procedure based on a minimal incision within 1cm and minimizing the use of bone graft materials. It is a method of crestal approach different from the current existing procedure thus minimizing soft tissue damage, alveolar bone damage, and also minimizing the use of bone graft material. There will also be a few actual case studies presented.

Biography:
Dr. Je-Won Wang, the chairman of AMII (Academy of Minimally Invasive Implantology). He had worked in engineering prior to dentistry where he practiced for over 25 years as a prosthodontist. Dr. Wang is an award-winning entrepreneur who designed and created the MagiCore, the 1st system designed exclusively for minimally invasive implant solutions. Dr. Wang was honored by Forbes Asia magazine as CEO of the year in Creative Innovation in 2015. In 2017, he was awarded Leader of the Year by the Korea Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy.
