Learn about Orthognathic Surgery from the viewpoint of a Kaiser Permanente Maxillofacial Surgeon. As one of the leading Healthcare providers in California, Kaiser Permanente is well known for its cutting-edge procedures and evidence-based approach to medical care. Unique to the Kaiser Permanente experience is the benefit of coverage for certain maxillofacial procedures, specifically Orthognathic Surgery. For this reason, the Division of Maxillofacial Surgery at Kaiser Permanente enjoys a reputation as one of the leading authorities on hospital-based surgery, especially Orthognathic Surgery. Yet, the Kaiser Permanente Maxillofacial Service largely remains an enigma to many community practitioners. This presentation aims to shed light on who we are and what we do, while emphasizing our rich experience with Orthognathic Surgery and how the process works within the Kaiser Permanente system.

At the conclusion of this presentation, the attendee will have a better understanding of the indications, benefits, and risks associated with orthognathic surgery, how the Kaiser surgeon approaches dentofacial deformities, timing and treatment planning of orthognathic cases, and management of complications from orthognathic surgery. Case presentations will be included, and audience participation is encouraged.
