SUMMARY:3D Printed Night Guard Workflow Simplified: Scan\, Design\, Print\, Finish\, and Deliver In-House - Presented by Zylo3D
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, September 23rd \n12pm – 1pm \nOnline via Zoom \nFREE for SCCDS Members and Guests \n1 CE Unit \nThis course introduces a practical\, office-based workflow for fabricating 3D printed night guards using modern digital dentistry tools. The presentation walks participants through the full process from patient scanning to appliance design\, slicing\, printing\, washing\, curing\, post-processing\, clinical try-in\, occlusal adjustment\, and delivery. \nThe course emphasizes how 3D printing can simplify night guard production by reducing lab dependency\, shortening turnaround time\, improving control over fit and quality\, and allowing same-day or next-day delivery when appropriate. Participants will learn how an integrated digital workflow can improve efficiency for the dental team while enhancing the patient experience. \nKey workflow topics include intraoral scanning\, bite opening with a leaf gauge\, capturing upper and lower arches plus an open-bite registration\, creating adequate clearance for appliance thickness\, using design services or rapid digital design tools\, preparing STL files in slicing software\, selecting compatible printers and resins\, orienting the appliance\, generating supports\, printing\, washing with isopropyl alcohol\, curing\, removing supports\, polishing or finishing\, and performing a quick clinical try-in. \nThe presentation also reviews the role of all-in-one 3D printing systems such as Zylo3D\, design service options\, rapid design tools such as Clinux\, resin considerations including splint/night guard materials\, and practical implementation tips for dental offices beginning in-house appliance production. \n \nBy the end of the session\, participants should understand the major clinical and operational steps required to implement a predictable 3D printed night guard workflow and recognize how digital production can reduce turnaround time\, increase quality control\, reduce costs\, and improve practice efficiency. \nLearning Objectives\nBy the end of this course\, participants should be able to: \n1. Describe the clinical and operational advantages of producing night guards with an in-office 3D printing workflow.\n2. Identify the main steps in a digital night guard workflow\, including scanning\, design\, slicing\, printing\, washing\, curing\, finishing\, and delivery.\n3. Explain how proper intraoral scanning and bite registration affect the fit\, durability\, and clinical success of a printed night guard.\n4. Understand how a leaf gauge can be used to open the bite and create approximately 3 mm of clearance for night guard design.\n5. Compare traditional lab-fabricated appliance workflows with in-house digital fabrication in terms of turnaround time\, cost\, quality control\, and patient experience.\n6. Discuss the role of design services and rapid digital design tools in preparing night guard files for 3D printing.\n7. Recognize basic slicing considerations\, including STL import\, printer/resin selection\, model orientation\, and support generation.\n8. Review post-processing steps including washing\, curing\, support removal\, polishing\, and finishing options.\n9. Describe clinical try-in steps for evaluating fit\, comfort\, retention\, and occlusion before appliance delivery.\n10. Identify practical implementation considerations for training team members and integrating 3D printed appliances into a dental office. \nSpeaker Information\n\nDr. Jahanzabe “Jay” Siddiqui is a practicing dentist and owner of Radiant Dental Care in Chevy Chase\, Maryland. His clinical focus includes digital dentistry\, restorative dentistry\, cosmetic dentistry\, implant dentistry\, same-day dentistry\, and technology-driven patient care. \nDr. Siddiqui uses a fully digital workflow in daily practice\, including intraoral scanning\, CBCT imaging\, 3D printing\, in-office milling\, digital treatment planning\, and same-day restorative procedures. His practice emphasizes precision\, efficiency\, patient education\, and using technology to improve both clinical outcomes and the patient experience. \nIn this course\, Dr. Siddiqui shares a practical approach to implementing 3D printed night guards in a dental office\, with emphasis on simplified workflows\, team delegation\, scanning accuracy\, appliance design\, post-processing\, clinical fit\, and predictable delivery.

SUMMARY:Bay Area Dental Insurance Reform Webinar Series
DESCRIPTION:Part 1 – Tuesday\, November 17th \nPart 2 – Tuesday\, December 8th \n6:30pm – 7:30pm \nOnline via Zoom \nFREE for SCCDS Members \nTuesday\, November 17th – Dental Insurance at a Crossroads: Understanding the Past\, Confronting the Present\, and Shaping the Future \nPresented By: Robert Shorey\, DDS \nDental insurance is top of mind for dentists in our communities; for good reasons. A system originally designed to help patients access dental care has struggled to keep pace with the realities of modern dentistry\, overhead costs and the oral health needs of today’s adult patients. Stagnant benefit levels and limitations in coverage have left dentists questioning whether the current model still serves patients\, practices\, or the profession effectively — spoiler alert “They’re NOT!”. \nIn this thought-provoking seminar\, Dr. Shorey will trace the history and evolution of dental insurance in California and the United States\, examine the forces that have shaped today’s system\, and explore why it falls short of meeting the needs of our patients. \nMore importantly\, this seminar will look beyond the problems to explore potential solutions. We will discuss practical\, short-term strategies dentists can consider today\, as well as longer-term approaches to rethinking dental benefits and developing sustainable alternatives for the future. \nUnderstanding how we got here is the first step toward changing where we go next. Join us for an engaging discussion that challenges conventional thinking\, encourages fresh perspectives\, and empowers dentists to become part of the solution — come learn and participate in the discussion. \nTuesday\, December 8th – The Future of Dental Insurance: Where Might We Go from Here? \nPresented By: Marko Vujicic\, Ph.D. \nDental insurance helps brings millions of Americans to the dentist. It also ranks as one of the biggest pain points for dental practices both in terms of reimbursement rates and administrative headaches. Why? How effective is the dental insurance model at financing necessary dental care? Discretionary dental care? How does this differ for children\, adults\, Medicaid\, Medicare\, and privately insured beneficiaries? Most importantly\, what does the future hold in terms of possibilities for major dental insurance reform? Get ready for a data-driven\, interactive\, and at times uncomfortable conversation! \nFeatured Speakers\n \nPART 1 – Robert Shorey\, DDS is an experienced dentist and owner of Shorey Dentistry in Morgan Hill\, California. A graduate of the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at USC\, Dr. Shorey is passionate about lifelong learning and advancing dental care through technology\, with particular expertise in digital clinical photography. He has lectured at local and state dental association meetings\, and has published articles in the Journal of the California Dental Association. Dr. Shorey also previously served as Editor of the Santa Clara County Dental Society’s award-winning magazine\, The Cutting Edge and currently serves on the Board of Component Representatives on behalf of SCCDS. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n PART 2 – Marko Vujicic\, Ph.D. currently serves as Chief Economist and Vice President of the Health Policy Institute as well as Chief of International Relations at the American Dental Association. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals such as Health Affairs\, The New England Journal of Medicine\, and JAMA his team’s work has been cited by CNN\, The New York Times\, Fox News\, and The Washington Post. Dr. Vujicic holds academic appointments at the University of Pennsylvania\, University of Chicago\, University of British Columbia\, University of Toronto and Tufts University. \n  \n  \n
