SUMMARY:General Membership Meeting: Dentistry 2.0: See Earlier\, Treat Smarter\, Restore Beautifully
DESCRIPTION:Today our patients would rather stay healthy than wait for disease\, and luckily dentistry is shifting toward earlier detection\, prevention-first care\, and conservative aesthetic decisions. This lecture presents a practical “Dentistry 2.0” framework that connects visual detection to risk-based prevention and improved case acceptance. Learn how to integrate supportive periodontal and remineralization therapies into everyday workflows\, then bridge prevention to conservative aesthetics. This presentation will be for the entire dental team. \nObjectives: \nBy attending\, participants will be able to: \n\nApply a Dentistry 2.0 clinical framework that links early detection\, risk assessment\, prevention\, and conservative restorative decision-making.\nInterpret clinical findings to identify early disease indicators (e.g.\, early demineralization/biofilm activity patterns) and determine appropriate next-step interventions.\nPresent risk in an empowering way using patient-friendly language that motivates action without fear\, shame\, or overwhelm.\nIntegrate non-invasive protocols into periodontal maintenance and prevention workflows\, including how to position therapy and expectations to improve adherence.\nDesign a practical remineralization plan that aligns with risk level\, compliance\, and measurable follow-up.\nConnect prevention to aesthetics by choosing more conservative pathways to improved aesthetics and see how the aesthetics wants are achieved.\n\nBiography: \nMichael A. Miyasaki\, DDS is a Sacramento-based clinician\, educator\, and lecturer focused on modern\, prevention-forward clinical systems that improve patient communication\, case acceptance\, and long-term outcomes. He teaches practical workflows that integrate early detection technologies\, periodontal home-care protocols\, and conservative restorative decision-making. Dr. Miyasaki lectures nationally and is involved in continuing education programs emphasizing diagnostics\, minimally invasive dentistry\, and predictable clinical execution for the general practitioner. \n  \n

SUMMARY:General Membership Meeting: Simplifying Digital Smile Design with the DDS Suite - 3/11/27
DESCRIPTION:Digital dentistry has raised the bar for precision\, efficiency\, and patient-centered care. 2D and 3D smile simulations and digital wax-ups let clinicians visualize\, plan\, and execute treatment with exceptional clarity\, streamlining workflow\, reducing chair time\, improving accuracy\, and letting patients preview their results before treatment begins. Yet the pace of that change carries its own cost with many clinicians feel pressured to invest in expensive systems or absorb lab responsibilities that pull them away from the chair\, and from the main reason they became dentists in the first place – patient care. \nDr. Pescatore’s approach is built on simplicity: a modern digital workflow that requires no full in-house lab\, sharpens communication with the lab\, elevates the patient experience\, and restores focus to chairside dentistry. This webinar shows you how to fold chairside digital design into daily practice — whether you are new to digital design or refining a workflow you already use. \nKey Takeaways for Attendees: \n\nOpen the cosmetic conversation in minutes — Simplify and execute 2D smile simulations that engage patients in what is possible\, right at the chair.\nDesign in real time — Harness live 3D smile simulations during the consultation and apply the versatile Pescatore Tooth Library™ to customize esthetic design case by case.\nVerify occlusion with one click — Use built-in occlusion tools for one-click adjustment\, then evaluate the result through heat map visualization.\nPresent and export without extra steps — Deliver a one-click presentation that makes the case persuasively\, then export scans directly to your printer or your lab.\nKnow the case before you pick up the handpiece — Understand the parameters of every case in advance — building patient confidence and the motivation to move forward with treatment.\n\nThe Digital Suite presented will help you elevate your patient presentations\, improve treatment acceptance\, and bring digital artistry back to the hands of the clinician which is where it belongs. \nBiography: \nDr. Christopher Pescatore is a national and international lecturer who has written articles for numerous publications\, including Practical Periodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry\, Profiles\, Dentistry Today\, Compendium\, Dental Economics\, and Inside Dentistry to name a few. He lectures on state-of-the-art aesthetic procedures\, CAD/CAM techniques\, and materials\, and holds a U.S. patent for non-metallic post system to restore endodontically-treated teeth. Dr. Pescatore is the creator and developer of the Digital Dental Sculptor Suite which creates 3D smile mockups chairside using a simple and intuitive workflow. \nHe is a past member of the Board of Directors and the editorial team member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD)\, former Clinical Co-Director and former featured lecturer at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies\, past instructor of the Advanced Aesthetic Program at New York University- College of Dentistry\, the Aesthetic Continuum at Baylor College of Dentistry\, and the Aesthetic Program at the University of Kentucky. Dr. Pescatore also evaluates and assists in the development of products for several leading dental manufacturers and laboratories and is on the editorial board of the prestigious publications REALITY – the information source for cosmetic dentistry. \nDr. Pescatore is a graduate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – New Jersey Dental School. He maintains a full-time practice dedicated exclusively to aesthetic restorative dentistry in Danville\, California.

SUMMARY:General Monthly Meeting: Overview of Orofacial Pain - 9/9/27
DESCRIPTION:While most of your patients’ pains will be from the teeth\, periodontium\, or a temporomandibular disorder\, some will have pain for other reasons: sinusitis\, referred pain\, neuralgias (trigeminal neuralgia\, burning mouth syndrome\, etc)\, and headaches\, to name a few. \nDentists are not expected to treat all of these but because they can sometimes look like dental pain or TMD\, dentists should still be able to recognize them. \nThis course will help you tell which of the above categories of pain (and a few more) your patient is suffering from\, when it’s not already clear. That determination will help you decide whether to treat the pain yourself\, or refer it out to the appropriate specialist. \nObjectives: \n\nDifferentiate between pain caused by teeth\, periodontium\, TMD\, sinusitis\, referred pain\, neuralgias (trigeminal neuralgia\, burning mouth syndrome\, etc)\, and headaches\nKnow when\, and to whom\, non-dental pains should be referred\n\n  \nBiography: \nAndrew Young received his DDS from UCSF\, his GPR certificate from the VA\, and his MSD in Orofacial Pain from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orofacial Pain and the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine\, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain. He is an Associate Professor with Tenure at UOP\, where he is the director of orofacial pain. He also heads UOP’s Evidence-Based Decision-Making and Critical Thinking curriculum\, which teaches appraisal of the scientific literature. He has published over 50 review and original research articles in peer-reviewed journals. \n  \n  \n
