The SCCDS COVID-19 Task Force is pleased to announce “Beyond the Curve: Returning to Dentistry Safely – An Employee’s Guide.”
This important slideshow presentation will review the information and specific considerations needed to reopen your practice while protecting your staff and patients.
Each practice is unique with different floor plans, team members, routines and practices. For this reason, we have provided an editable version of this presentation allowing you to customize it to suit your practice. This is a comprehensive training guide that touches upon many important aspects of returning to dentistry safely. It is intended to open up a discussion with your team about creating a plan to safeguard against symptomatic and asymptomatic COVID-19 patients or team members.
The dental profession generally carries a health risk. With the COVID-19 crisis, those risks have been elevated. We have curated guidelines and recommendations from many organizations to create this injury and illness prevention plan for your practice. Because the safety of team members and patients are always a priority, it is imperative to take preliminary precautions as business reopen during these uncertain times. The care you take now will allow patients and team members to be less fearful when returning to the dentist’s office.
Once you have reviewed the presentation, the template version can be downloaded and edited as you see fit for your office to begin training sessions remotely or together with social distancing protocols in place. Please note: Once you have edited the template, it becomes your property and the Santa Clara County Dental Society assumes no liability for its use or accuracy.
Practicing and rehearsing new routines and concepts is recommended to reduce any issues you might come across as you and your team implement this new prevention plan. This training guide should be presented to both full-time and part-time staff including hygienists, associates, and specialists.
Now is the time to prepare for COVID-19. Simple precautions and planning can make a big difference. Action now will help protect your employees and your business.
With thanks to Dr. Louis Tieu, Dr. Monica Wu and Dr. Bexter Yang for curating and assembling this presentation.
